The ultimate sample library for ethnic instruments and voices from all over the world.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the culmination of a library that has grown steadily over more than 16 years and has been continually improved. With the sixth edition 80 new instruments and voices with a volume of 13 GB were added. Never before has there been such a comprehensive and high-quality library of ethnic instruments and voices.

The award-winning film composer Marcel Barsotti (including Die Päpstin, Das Wunder von Bern) has compiled a gigantic selection of instruments from all over the world and recorded supplementary solo voices and choirs from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete now consists of 320 instruments and vocal parts, which are summarized in approximately 800 patches. For an authentic sound, the instruments were recorded in different ways, which can be called up quickly and specifically in the patches with keyswitches. The library has a size of 33.4 GB (uncompressed) and 28,789 samples. All instruments are available in a resolution of 24 bit and 44.1 kHz.

More than 70 musicians and singers from all over the world participated in the recordings, which were made under the direction of music producer Andreas Hofner. The recordings took place in various studios on site using high-quality technology such as Neumann and Brauner microphones, SPL preamps and RME converters.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete comprises an incredible spectrum of instruments and voices from the most diverse regions of Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America. Here you will find the right instruments and vocal recordings for both folkloristic and modern music.

INSTRUMENTS

There is an extensive selection of stringed instruments that have been plucked and bowed, a wide variety of woodwind instruments, including numerous flutes, and of course a large number of drums and percussions.

In addition to the proven Taikos and Big Ethnic Tom drums perfectly suited for film scoring, there are hundreds of inspiring loops and a complete category dealing with "Gongs, Bells & Metal Type Instruments" - from the big Big Feng Gong to finely sparkling Windchimes. New in ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete are some unique sounds like a two meter high Paiste Gong, many new percussion instruments and a Waterphone.

Almost all sections of the previous version have been extended again. In addition, some instruments from ETHNO WORLD 5 have also been newly recorded, including a new mandolin and a great banjo, played by one of the best banjo players in Germany, Rüdiger Helbig, and programmed with countless playing styles and licks.

In addition there is now a Concertina, an Autoharp, a Japanese Koto, a new mandolin with many playing styles, a South American Charango, a Bansuri, Bass Quena, an Indian flute, as well as playing style extensions for the instruments Launeddas, Mancosedda, Dvojacka and the Irish Traverse Flute.

VOICES

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete offers extensive solo voices, phrases and choirs from Cameroon, Guinea, China, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, North Africa, Spain and the Ukraine. The voices and choirs were expanded with new contributions from Africa, Arabia, Jamaica and India. For example, the Houari Algerian Rai Singer is not only perfect for an authentic atmosphere, but can also be used for dance and hip-hop.

Equally extraordinary are Mongolian overtone chants, Chinese opera voices, Arabic, Indian and African choirs and solo voices as well as the singing of Native Americans. Thus one receives a versatile selection of voices, which can be used for the broad range of the film music, for folkloristic and traditional music, in addition, for modern music productions.

With its instruments and voices, ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the perfect library for film and TV productions that need the authentic sound of a particular region. Of course, the instruments and voices are also suitable for music productions of various styles, from pop to ambient to dance, who want to integrate these timbres.

CONTENT

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete contains all sounds of the previous versions in the categories "Bowed Instruments", "Stringed Instruments", "Woodwind & Brass", "Key Instruments", "World Drums", "World Percussion", "Gongs, Bells & Metals" and "Voices".

In addition, a number of special instruments have been added to Version 6. This includes the new category "Gamelan", for which two different Gamelan orchestras from Bali and Java were recorded in the tunings Slendro, Pelog and an international tuning in the Munich Stadtmuseum. Here you will find over 25 instruments like Kempli, Kendhang Drums, Cheng Cheng, Bells, Kecer Cymbals, Kethuk and Kempiang.

These instruments are complemented by a Balinese singer who harmonizes excellently with her voice, the typical Suling Flute and the harp Siter. ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete thus offers the largest orchestra setup for gamelan instruments from Indonesia.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete opens up a completely new region with a complete ensemble of alpine folk music with plucked instruments, wind instruments and male and female yodels. These include instruments such as Styrian harmonica, nylon/concert guitar, zither, raffle, dulcimer, alphorn, flugelhorn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, folk violin and two clarinets. Of course an acoustic bass is not missing either.

For the historical context, for example for historical dramas or fantasy films, ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete offers a large collection of medieval instruments, including a hurdy gurdy, a renaissance lute, a Schwegel, a doucaine, a shawm, a string psalter, a harmonium and a shruti box. In short: all necessary instruments for songs of ice and fire.

THE INTERFACE

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete uses the free Kontakt 5 Player or the full version Kontakt 5 from Native Instruments as sample engine. For the new version, the graphical user interface was completely redesigned and equipped with an ultra-fast user interface. There are numerous editing options and innovative functions. ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete supports the Native Control Standard (NKS), which enables tagging and interaction with the NI Complete Control Keyboards and NI Machine.

Also offered is a new waveform display and display of the sample start offset as well as a clearer operation of the effects, where, among other things, the delay values are now displayed with tempo-related notes and milliseconds. The Timemachine (TM PRO) allows significantly improved audio properties with tempo-adjusted material, especially with polyphonic licks and loops.

Not only do the new sounds recorded for ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete benefit, but also all the sounds from ETHNO WORLD 5, which have been completely revised and for which a clearer menu navigation has been created by reducing the number of patches.

Thanks to the integrated convolution reverb, all instruments and voices sound very natural. A high-quality legato mode is also available for solo instruments, and Humanize mode gives each new note a slightly different timbre. Microtuning allows for a wide variety of ethnic tunings and scales. With high-quality filters, LFO, tune, automation, harmonizers and other effects, all instruments and voices can be efficiently altered and edited as required, thus creating completely new sound worlds in modern music and film productions.

A unique feature of ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the IDB-INFO (Information Database), which can be accessed directly for each instrument and voice. Via the menu item "IDB-INFO" you can see photos of the instruments and learn everything about the original playing styles and tunings of the instruments in the music library, get information about their origin and variations. Here you will also find information on how to play the respective instrument as authentically as possible using the key switches.
