Large-diaphragm condenser microphone with cardioid characteristic

RØDE has redesigned the NT1 from the ground up, adding a sensational and absolutely unique sounding model to its range of large diaphragm condenser microphones. RØDE boss Peter Freedman had asked his engineers to design a microphone that would come as close as possible to the sound of his favourite vintage microphone. The result was the NT1 - with a new housing, new electronics, new capsule, a dead straight frequency response without presence boost and an incredibly low self-noise level of only 4.5 dBA!

The aluminium cabinet is first nickel-plated for corrosion resistance. Then it is coated with an extremely scratch-resistant ceramic coating. The enamel powder is applied perfectly evenly by an electrostatic process and then fired. Finally, the inscription is lasered in. The result: a very high-quality finish that looks stylish even after years of use and, in combination with the electronics, also ensures excellent resistance to HF interference.

RØDE has developed the "HF6" especially for the NT1. It is an edge-polarized, gold-coated 1" capsule, which has been trimmed to a vintage sound. Its sound is clearly reminiscent of legendary classics, but it has considerably less noise (almost none at all). RØDE has also broken new ground in suspension thanks to the cooperation with Rycote®. Behind the microphone basket is a miniature lyre in which the capsule is mounted, thus eliminating disturbing vibrations from the outset: the NT1 has surprisingly good footfall sound absorption even without a spider.

RØDE leaves nothing to chance in its hi-tech factory near Sydney. The PCB assembly is fully automatic and super-precise, after which the setpoints of the electronics are meticulously checked, because only in this way, in combination with the HF6 capsule, can the amazingly low inherent noise of 4.5 dBA be achieved.

The NT1-KIT comes with the deluxe SM6 spider, which provides effective decoupling of the microphone from structure-borne noise. The SM6 has an integrated fabric popscreen that can be removed if necessary, adjusted on two axes, and optimally positioned with its telescopic extension. A 6 m XLR cable and a dust bag complete the NT1-KIT. By the way, it is recommended to actually use the dust bag after work is done! The NT1 is manufactured by RØDE in Australia, registered users receive a 10 year warranty.
