The Bus-Comp is a stereo compressor in VCA technology which is optimised for use on sum signals and busses. The individual signals of a subgroup get a common context, the mix becomes more consistent and coherent. Switchable CineMag transformers in the output stage provide a little more "colour" in the mix.
The purely analog compressor is based on a classic circuit that has been providing a coherent sound for decades. VCA bus compressors are ideal for controlling the dynamics of many sources and provide the magic touch in stereo mixes.
Stereo mixes, drum mixes, drum overheads, acoustic guitars, keyboards, piano, orchestra instruments, voice-overs benefit especially from the Bus-Comp. It is primarily designed for stereo operation, but individual mono sources can also be thickened. Compressors of this kind are very popular because they effortlessly keep the dynamics of entire mixes and busses in check. They also add sound and depth to the signal, even if they don't compress noticeably.
At the heart of the Bus-Comp's development was the reproduction of the legendary VCA bus compressor technology. Warm Audio has also added a few options and improvements to the compressor. For example, you have the option of inserting US made CineMag transformers into the signal path, driven by fully discrete operational amplifiers. A button on the front panel gives you more depth and character
