AIR originally created Xpand! as part of the Creative Collection of instrument plug-ins included with Avid Pro Tools, where, as Xpand!2, it gained new controls, improved features and an additional gigabyte of sounds. Sound generation ranges from subtractive and FM synthesis, wavetables and tonewheels to sample playback; thousands of ready-to-play patches are included, and parts are sorted into 29 categories. Each part can be played polyphonically with up to 64 voices or monophonically with selectable note priority, making it easy to designate a bass, lead or solo instrument. Six smart knobs, an arpeggiator for every part and two effects processors with 50 effect types make shaping your own sounds quick and easy.
