COMP-4K-STRIP recreates the versatile four-in-one dynamics module of the legendary British 4K consoles of the 1980s – VCA compressor, expander and two filter modules for everything from vintage punch to warm saturation.

The British 4K series of large-format consoles defined 1980s rock and synthpop and is still in use in major studios today. To create COMP-4K-STRIP, Antelope dismounted an actual channel strip from a well-preserved desk, analysed it painstakingly and tested its digital recreation rigorously. Besides classic punch, glue and analogue drive, it has a few tricks up its sleeve: the Pre Dyn button places the filters before or after the compressor and expander, the compressor works as a standard compressor or brick-wall limiter, and the Dyn Sc button turns the filters into a sidechain so that it can also act as a de-esser.
