FET-A78 is a multi-purpose stereo compressor and peak limiter that adds 1980s-style analogue punch to individual instruments and glues mixes together.

The sound of FET-A78 can be heard on a huge number of pop and rock records, as it is great for processing both individual instruments and full mixes: drums, guitars, vocals, bass or groups such as backing vocals, overheads and synth layers. Stereo mode lets you treat stereo tracks, and it makes overly dynamic bass lines behave in the mix. The original is the stereo version of one of the most successful peak limiter compressors in audio history, designed with matching limiters to keep both channels perfectly balanced and with FETs acting as voltage-variable resistors. Antelope recreated this circuit architecture, which allows hard limiting without distortion and adds analogue colour without artefacts, for both subtle and extreme compression.
