VP Brainiac II is a VCA compressor plug-in inspired by the legendary Gain Brain, built for fast transient grabbing on drums, vocals and other acoustic and percussive instruments.

Thanks to its carefully modelled VCA circuitry, VP Brainiac II handles transient-heavy and highly dynamic sources, applying massive amounts of gain reduction without deforming the sound and with faster attack and release times than any tube compressor. The faithfully recreated Release Mode switch changes the release response from linear to logarithmic, while the peak reversion correction circuitry compensates for the loss of low end during heavy compression. It is inspired by the Gain Brain, introduced by Allison Research in 1971 and later revised around the Valley TA101 VCA as the Valley People Gain Brain II. A simple set of Gain, Ratio, Attack, Release and Threshold controls makes it easy to fit into any recording, mixing or post-production setup.
