The Bechstein D-280 from the Quantum Leap Pianos collection is a sampled piano that stands out for its clear detail and precise separation of every single note.

While the other instruments in the collection create a large, room-filling tapestry of sound, the Bechstein D-280 offers precise harmonic separation between every note. Each note is slightly thinner than on the other pianos, so even complex passages and large chord stacks remain transparent. Sustain, repetitions, soft pedal and staccato were sampled with many velocity layers, complemented by pedal resonance and release samples. Recording took place with vintage Neumann microphones, Meitner AD converters and a vintage Neve 8078 console.
