SideMinder 2 is the second generation of the dynamic stereo width enhancer that widens tracks, buses and the master mix without risking polarity inversion and the resulting cancellation in mono.

Wide stereo mixes can fall apart in mono when out-of-phase content cancels – and many stereo enhancers make this worse, which shows up as negative correlation. SideMinder 2 “listens” to the material with lookahead FIR correlation detectors and narrows the stereo image precisely if and when negative correlation begins, so you can increase the overall width while the mix stays mono compatible – an effect typical mid/side compression cannot achieve. As a “differential limiter” it does not alter the dynamics, and its Bass Mono control narrows the image below the selected cutoff frequency to centre the bass for a more solid feel, which is particularly important when mastering for vinyl.
