IronAxe generates its sound rather than playing back samples: strings, pickups, plectrum or finger excitation and playing techniques such as palm muting, tapped harmonics or muting a string after it has been struck are physically simulated, together with the small imperfections of instrument and performance. The result is very smooth dynamics without velocity layers. You build your own guitar in the style of a Stratocaster or Telecaster, choose pickup type, number and position, set the tone knobs and decide on plectrum hardness and the plucking point along the string. Play it from a MIDI keyboard or a natively supported MIDI guitar, while stompboxes, amps, cabinets and room simulation complete the setup without additional external software or hardware.
