Recording equipment as industry standard
Founded in 1987 in Burlington, Massachusetts (USA), AVID is known for its film and audio innovations. AVID's products have received Emmy Awards and an Oscar in the Science and Technology category. Since 2010, the company has also marketed the DIGIDESIGN brand under the AVID label. DIGIDESIGN began its history as a small-scale "garage company" in 1984 as a development supplier of AVID's audio division, producing EPROM chips for the E-mu drum computer Drumulator. The subsequent triumph of digital audio technology brought DIGIDESIGN and AVID enormous growth and many innovative products to the pro audio world, without which today's music production landscape would be unimaginable.
