The Black Lion Audio Eighteen Channel Strip proves that vintage sound cannot only be achieved by imitating individual devices. With the Eighteen, the US manufacturer offers a hardware unit that pays tribute to some classic designs, but stands on its own.

Behind the classic Cinemag input transformers sit two discrete BLA1831 op-amps, and the passive tone control is shaped by a special Cinemag inductor. The preamp presents the smooth sound of the classics, but with a much lower noise floor, while the EQ develops its own charm and can be used as flexibly as it is targeted.
