The "Bluey" is a modified "Blue Stripe" compressor based on Chris Lord-Alge's "golden unit". When certain components became unavailable, technicians had to change the circuit, resulting in a unique compressor that has been heard on countless hits. Through decades of maintenance and repair, some devices like wine get better with time.

The scarcity of original parts leads technicians to deviate from the original design and create an improved, unique, modified unit. With an impeccable ear, decades of experience and a wealth of coveted equipment, legendary mix engineer Chris Lord-Alge was able to identify one of his four 1176 Blue Stripe units as sitting firmly in this distinctive category. The particular unit, called "Bluey", has a special "mojo" that shines like no other on vocal tracks.

Chris wanted more channels for this golden unit and turned to the people who know modifications best - the team at Black Lion Audio! BLA analysed the unit with meticulous detail and worked with Chris Lorde-Alge to recreate the monster now known as the new Black Lion Audio "Bluey!".
