An expansion pack for BFD3 inspired by the drum sound featured on Metallica’s 1991 “Black Album”.

Produced and recorded by Chocolate Audio, the team behind BFD Imperial Drums and BFD Modern Retro, the pack features the exact same 1980 Gretsch kit that was played on the album, along with Zildjian cymbals, a Tama Bell Brass snare and a Ludwig snare. Everything from the original sessions was reproduced as accurately as possible: with the help of Mike Tacci, assistant engineer on the Black Album, the pack was recorded in the restored One On One Recording Studio (now 17 Hertz), where the original drums were tracked. The mic setup also recreates the original, with an EV RE20, Sennheiser MD421 and Neumann FET 47 on the kick, high-hanging Neumann U87 overheads, AKG C12 tube mics as front close rooms and Telefunken ELAM 251E tube mics as far rooms. The result captures one of the signature sounds in the history of rock music.
